After an indifferent divorce, Reed Peterson traded in her high-profile career in the city for an opportunity to try her hand at running a business of her own. She’s not sure if the small town life is for her, but since part of her new mission in life is to adopt the free-spiritedness her mother had once embodied, she knows she has to give it a try. She needs her freedom, and she needs it now. Even if the fresh air might suffocate her.
Rogan Douglas agrees to take on the job of getting Reed’s property up-to-snuff so she can re-open the once grand—now dilapidated—cottage motel in town. Struggling to raise his five kids on his own after the accidental death of his wife, Rogan didn’t realize the job would cost him so much. Like his sanity. And his heart.
Reed and Rogan are venturing down different paths in life, but can they resist the powerful attraction that threatens the way they see themselves? Their futures? And is it possible for two people with such different personalities and values to find a way to call each other’s heart their home?

The story had a good plot and I loved the hero, Rogan, but I just couldn't get myself to feel anything for the heroine. What I did like about Reed is when she reached out to Rogan's son, Dylan and helped him with his learning disability. Other than that she was quite rough on Rogan.First, she claimed they couldn't have a relationship because he was still wearing his wedding ring after his wife's death. She pushes him away, then shows up at his house in the middle of the night. She fights with him another time, pushes him away, then shows up again. She was making my head spin. It was just childish and immature. The only thing I felt for her was the need to smack her.Product details

A Heart to Call Home Starting Over Book 1 eBook Amanda Torrey Reviews
RIght person, bad timing. Reed's property purchase leads to complications not only does she want to renovate the cottages, but her attitude as well. Verbal sparring with Rogan, her contractor cannot disguise the strong attraction they feel towards each other. Family, legal matters, and personal demons arise at inopportune times that challenge the former CEO and her budding relationship.
It's a good book to read during free time. The characters aren't finely detailed, but they draw the reader into wanting the series.
CEO from NYC has left everything behind to restore a small town inn. But people are different here. The seem genuinely nice, helpful, and they give hugs to strangers! Soon her contractor is doing beautiful work, but for some strange reason, she actually enjoys spending time with him, somebody with an old SUV and four young children! Great story, adult romantic situations .
I love it. This is well written with a good storyline. The characters are well developed. I enjoyed the interaction of the people in the small town. I liked that Reed had attitude and was determined. The story has romance, struggles, humor and drama. Just enough of everything to keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to reading all of the series.
Reed Peterson comes to Healing Springs having just purchased the run down motel, after her divorce and she is trying to get back to her relaxed youth and honor her mother's memory she wants to turn it into and Adult-only retreat. Rogan Douglas is the only contractor who shows up to give her an estimate, he has his kids with him and she is not pleased. I loved feeling like I was there watching them discover and yes try to resist falling for each other. I loved the date Rogan planned, Loved the scenes when her sisters come to town and how she and the town dealt with her crabby neighbor and the selectman on a power trip. This is a wonderful addition to the Healing Springs series and I can't wait till the next one comes out. Amanda Torrey you rock
Reed (Also "Freedom" ) came to a small town to renovate a worn out motel complex and make it into an adult hideaway. It not only became a HUGE challenge but also a money-sucking almost lost-cause venture.
In steps Rogan, a man of infinite abilities as well as an ability to GET Reed's panties WET!
The obstacles and challenges Reed and Rogan faced were, to some people, insurmountable but they just kept pushing forward.
This is a story of two people accomplishing things as a matter of habit AND FALLING in LOVE 💘 as they went their own way.
A STORY of LOVE and PERSISTENCE that defies understanding.
Think you'll enjoy this offering by Amanda Torrey. 'NUFF SAID!
Reed is use to being in control, she was a successful CEO and everything was planned and orderly until everything changes and she leaves her job, gets a divorce and buys a run down motel sight unseen. Rogan one of the only 2 contractors to turn up and the only somber one so he gets the job the fact that he is sexy as hell is just a bonus. The thing I really loved about this book is that we get to see both Reed and Rogan work out who they are and move on from their past while having many obstacles in their way, be them of their own making or outside influences. Will the motel succeed, will Reed accept Rogan and his gaggle of kids and will she work out who she really is now?! There are plenty of funny, frustrating, romantic, heart warming and more moments to keep you captivated with this book.
It's not easy writing well-developed characters, especially ones that are standoffish, but Ms. Torrey has done a wonderful job of creating depth to her hero and heroine in this novel.
Reed is used to people bowing to her, because that's how she clawed her way to the top of the corporate ladder. She's factual and rational and knows how to get the desired outcome. How else would a woman become CEO in a man's world? Certainly not by crying!
But Rogan is also used to getting things done, so he doesn't need a female telling him how to do his job. But the money? Well, how else is he going to support his 5 children?
The characters continue this push/pull throughout their story, attempting to remain true to who they are while trying to become what they'd like to be. No easy feat! Great job, Ms. Torrey!
